Back in the summer of 1944, the hedgerows of Normandy were a chaotic battleground, and right in the middle of the action was the Schwere Panzerabteilung 101. One specific machine operating in that sector was Tiger #232, a late-production model tasked with holding the line against the Allied advance. To survive the close-quarters fighting, its hull was coated in Zimmerit paste to prevent magnetic mines from attaching, and it wore a tri-color ambush camouflage designed to help it disappear into the French foliage. This tank served as a key heavy asset during the intense defensive operations of the Normandy campaign.

Mechanically, Tiger #232 represented the evolution of the platform with several late-war modifications. It moved on steel-rimmed road wheels instead of the earlier rubber-tired versions, a change driven by the need to handle the vehicle's immense weight and conserve rubber. The turret was equipped with a low-profile commander's cupola, which reduced the silhouette and made it harder for enemy gunners to target the commander's hatch. These updates, combined with its thick armor plating, defined the configuration of the heavy tanks deployed by the 101st Heavy Panzer Battalion during the final stages of the war in the West.
