The Glider Pilot Regiment played a critical role in Operation Tonga and the capture of Pegasus Bridge during the D-Day landings. These men flew the Airspeed Horsa, a massive wooden glider, into tight landing zones under heavy fire and under the cover of darkness. Distinguished by their Denison smocks and maroon berets or specialized flight helmets, they were trained to be proficient with every weapon in the airborne arsenal, ensuring they remained a potent fighting force once their boots hit the ground.\n\nThe set includes 4 highly detailed specialist officer and pilot figures in operational stances. The inventory features 1 pilot in a flight helmet with hands behind his back, 1 senior officer in a maroon beret, 1 pilot in a flight helmet with hand on hip, and 1 pilot in a standard Mark II steel helmet consulting a navigation clipboard or map.
