Following the invasion of Sicily and the push onto the Italian mainland, the British 8th Army frequently engaged in 'mouse-holing' and street-level ambushes to dislodge entrenched German defenders. These tactical engagements often took place in multi-story villas and townhouses, where the structural integrity of buildings had been compromised by artillery. British infantry squads would patiently wait in the shadows of ground-floor ruins, striking at German sentries positioned on balconies or upper floors to collapse local defensive perimeters in the winding Italian streets.\n\nThis is a full diorama that depicts a tense, vertical ambush scenario in a war-torn Italian villa. The set includes 6 British infantrymen armed with Lee-Enfield rifles and Bren guns taking cover on the ground floor, 2 German soldiers positioned on an exposed upper-story balcony, and a massive two-story ruined building facade featuring a detailed balcony, interior flooring planks, fallen doors, and a debris-strewn cobblestone base.
