The Battle of Okinawa, fought from April to June 1945, was the largest amphibious assault of the Pacific War and the last major land battle before the planned invasion of Japan. Lieutenant General Mitsuru Ushijima's 32nd Army abandoned the beaches and instead turned the island's ridges into a network of caves, tunnels and underground bunkers along the Shuri Line, forcing American troops to clear each position at close range. From these hidden strongpoints, Japanese infantry launched sudden night infiltrations and counterattacks, including the costly offensive of 4–5 May 1945. The 82-day battle claimed more than 12,000 American lives and roughly 100,000 Japanese soldiers, alongside a devastating toll on Okinawa's civilian population.
This full diorama features 11 Imperial Japanese Army infantry figures in dynamic charging and assault poses as they surge out of the entrance of an underground bunker, complete with the base, walls and bunker structure. Available in 1/35, 1/32 and 1/30 scales, supplied unpainted and ready for assembly and finishing. Designer: ArteJaol.
Please note: the figures in this diorama are resin 3D printed, while the structures, buildings and bases are printed in PLA filament for a sturdy, durable foundation.
