The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX was rushed into service in 1942 as the answer to the Luftwaffe's Focke-Wulf Fw 190, pairing the Spitfire airframe with a more powerful two-stage supercharged Merlin engine. The Mk.IXc went on to fly across Western Europe and the Mediterranean, and the box art shows one wearing the black and white invasion stripes applied for D-Day in June 1944.
This is the Airfix A17001 injection-moulded plastic model kit in large 1/24 scale. It is new, unassembled and unpainted, in its original box. Paints, glue and tools are not included. A great build for Spitfire fans and WWII aviation modellers.
